Keeping Your Precious Cargo Safe

According to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration, car crashes are one of the leading causes of death for children 1-13 years old. Many of those deaths and injuries could have been prevented if a car seat had been properly utilized.

National Child Passenger Safety Week will take place Sept. 13-19 and The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning will be putting on events all week to promote car seat safety and education.

The Office of Highway Safety Planning stresses that children are to be properly buckled in a car seat or booster seat until they are 8 years old or 4-feet-9-inches tall. Children must ride in a seat until they reach the age requirement or the height requirement, whichever comes first.
