Vacation! Vacation! Vacation!

Summer is the perfect time to take a vacation! Whether it is just a quick day trip or a trip overseas, there are a few tips you should remember to ensure your family stays safe!

Social Media

That beach sure is beautiful! Taking a picture of it will be a great way to preserve the memory forever. However, think twice about posting it right away. While social media is a great way to stay connected with family and friends, the wrong people may also be looking at your posts. If someone sees you are away, they may try to break into your home! A good rule of thumb when it comes to traveling and posting is just to wait until you are back home. Although it may not seem as fun to wait, everyone is still going to get to see the awesome photos you took while away!

Mail

If you are leaving for more than a couple of days, make sure you contact your local post office to put your mail on hold. Did you know the post office can actually hold your mail for 3-30 days?! Putting your mail on hold is actually quite simple and can be done online

Lock up

Although it sounds silly, it's always a great idea to double check that everything is locked and shut. If you live in a well populated area, it may even be a good idea to put a heavier duty lock on your front door. The harder you make it for a burglar to break in, the less likely they are to do so!

Airport

Flying tends to be a very popular option when it comes to vacationing. Its's fast and convenient too! However, airports are large so it's important to stay safe while flying! If you own a laptop and plan to take it with you on your trip, make sure to put it on the x-ray belt last. By doing this it is out in the open for less time therefore lessening your chances of having it stolen.
