Michigan Secretary of State Tips

Michigan. Lakes, trees, cherries, and a beautiful large bridge. Michigan sure does have it all, including long lines at the Secretary of State's Office.

We all have probably been greeted by a long line and a number way down the list at the Secretary of State's Office. Going to get our license renewed or becoming an organ donor takes a long time! If only there was an easier way!

Well, there actually is! The Michigan Secretary of State has a program that allows you to "skip" the line. A relatively new program titled MI-TIME Line is now available for certain Michigan counties!*

What is MI-TIME Line?

MI-TIME Line is a service that allows you to make an appointment or reserve a spot in line at the Secretary of State's Office.

How do I use it?

MI-TIME Line is a very simple and easy program to use. Simply call (517) 507-4427 or text capitalsos to (517) 721-7749 to reserve your place in line today! You can also book an appointment online up to 60 days in advance! Don't have a phone or computer? No worries! MI-Time Line is also available by visiting the kiosk at your local Secretary of State's Office.*

Hop online, not in line.

There is another way to avoid waiting in line at the Secretary of State's Office; expresssos.com. Here you can renew your plate tab, standard drivers license, and watercraft. You can also be added to the organ donors list and update/change your personal information. Basic Driver Improvement Courses

It's a Monday and you are running late for work. Worried about what your boss will say if you show up late, you speed up quite a bit on the highway. Suddenly, you see flashing lights and a police car behind you! Uh-oh!  To make matters worse, this is your first ticket and you do not want this to go on your record! Fortunately for you, Michigan has a program where certain points can be avoided from your record. Basic Driver Improvement Courses (BDIC) are courses that can be taken either online or in person within 60 days of receiving a ticket to avoid getting points added to your record! For more information on this helpful program, or to see if you are eligible, visit the Secretary of State online.

ProtectMIChild

One of the hardest things to do in today's world is protect our children online. Fortunately, the state of Michigan has released a program to block adult themed content from your child's inbox. ProtectMIChild is very easy to use and can all be done online! This program will ask for your child's phone number, messenger ID, email address, or fax number along with their birthday. Simply enter the information and click 'next step.' You will be directed to another form to fill out your own information. After these steps have been complete, your child will not receive adult themed content in their inbox anymore! This is a great program to help ensure that your children are staying safe on the internet.
